NYPO Core Group - Project 51. This article also appears on his website. |
About my name:
My name is Ridwan. It is from an Arabic origin. Two syllables. It sounds rather bland at
points, and rather complex at others. I think this may be due to my mood at different
times. Anyway, my name means 'acceptance' and 'goodwill'. The gatekeeper to the door of
heaven is called Ridwan too (Islamic belief). My second name is Ibrahim. 3 syllables. It
also comes from an Arabic origin. It apparently means 'Father of Multitude'. I am not
named after anyone, but I like to think that people will be name after me.
My Heritage
Group(S):
Me? I'm from all over the place. Centuries and centuries ago, my generation begins from
somewhere in the UAE, Saudi Arabia I think. This man had two children. One became a Jew,
and the other a Muslim. The Muslim became the father of a large generation which
spread all over the world. Part of this generation was in India. My heritage was there for
at least 100 generations. From India, my parents migrated to England. Why? How?, you'll
have to ask them. Anyway, from them, came I. Ridwan Ibrahim. (Don't ask me how I know all
this).
My Heritage
Nationality:
I don't consider myself to be an Arab. Partly Indian and partly British. I was born here,
so I have a British nationality and citizenship. I don't consider myself Arab because,
like I said before, That must have been hundreds upon thousands of centuries ago. I s'pose
I consider myself partly Indian because that is where my parents are from. And I look
Asian, that moves me on to...
Me:
I'm 14. About 5ft 7"....I think. I have typical black hair. Nowadays I tend to keep
it short, I s'pose I can't be asked to groom it when it's long. I wear glasses, I dislike
this. My skin colour rapidly changes throughout the year. Mostly, in winter I look more
fair skinned and pale. In the summer, my Asian colour kicks in. I'm skinny. Well, not
really but my height compared to my body makes me look skinny. I eat like a horse. I am
like a double person, a secret agent almost. There is the general side to me, which most
people know. I like playing snooker, but I'm not really a sporty person. Then there's my
other side. Utmost secrecy. The people that know are with me in this. Those who don't,
don't think too hard! (By the way don't ask me about this)
My beliefs:
I am a Muslim, therefore I believe in Islam. 'Islam is more a way of life than a
religion'. My whole life is based upon Islamic beliefs and practice. I always push myself
to extend my knowledge. This is part of the reason why I am involved in NYPO and Project
51.
